Josh’s last day

A message especially for Lansing Journal subscribers

Josh's last day
Josh says goodbye to his Lansing Journal job on June 21, but he still thinks it’s important to be informed and connected.

LANSING, Ill. (June 20, 2024) – Most Lansing Journal readers will be reading this post on Friday, June 21 — Josh’s last day as Managing Editor of The Lansing Journal. This is the day he’ll be turning things back over to me and moving on to his next chapter.

Josh has worked hard right up to the end. He contacted each of our freelancers to thank them for their work. He covered Tuesday’s cancelled Thornton Township meeting and Thursday’s rescheduled meeting. He made sure I have access to all his albums of Lansing Journal photos. He documented instructions about the various systems he put in place during the past four years.

Josh has worked hard to make this transition as seamless as possible, to make sure that news will keep landing in your inbox each morning uninterrupted even after he’s gone.

That’s the kind of guy Josh is. He cares about our community and wants people to be informed and connected. The Lansing Journal was more than just a job to him.

I’m wondering if our readers — particularly our subscribers — could respond to Josh’s commitment with a commitment of your own. Would you sign up as a Monthly Supporter of The Lansing Journal? That’s a way to be like Josh and make sure the Journal keeps delivering.

(I know this Be Like Josh button is kind of corny, but the sentiment is sincere!)

Become a Monthly Supporter

Monthly Supporters are so important. Some of them give $10/month. Others give $100/month. A few give even more. But it all adds up to an amount we can rely on month after month after month.

And like Josh, Monthly Supporters go above and beyond. They know The Lansing Journal is a free newspaper — but they give anyway. They appreciate the work we do, and they want to show that they don’t take it for granted.

Frankly, we need more people like that.

Right now, The Lansing Journal needs you. I need you. I’m looking ahead, into next week and beyond. And to be honest, I would feel much more confident about things if we had a few more readers willing to pay what they can to keep this newspaper going.

If you are not yet a Monthly Supporter of this local newspaper, will you sign up today?

Josh
(There it is again — corny but sincere.)

Even if you can’t give monthly right now, we appreciate whatever you can do. Gifts of all sizes help keep this newspaper going. Every dollar is invested directly into the journalism we provide for our community.

P.S. Josh has worked hard to make sure The Lansing Journal is ready to continue delivering news without him. If you need a good reason to support this local newspaper, do it because you appreciate what Josh has done for The Lansing Journal — and for the Lansing community. Do it because you want to keep getting news even after Josh is gone:
