Carole Ann Janiga (nee Hathaway), age 82, of Calumet City, IL, passed away June 10, 2024.
She was born in Hammond, IN, and lived all her childhood years and young adult years in Lansing, IL. She was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother who always made time for her family.
Carole graduated from TF South in 1959 and worked at Acme Steel after graduating. In 1962 she married Robert Janiga, and they made their home in Calumet City and started a family.
Carole enjoyed various sewing crafts, played piano very well, and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed cooking and gardening.
Carole is survived by her daughters MaryAnn Janiga and Margaret S. Davis (late Glenn), by her son Robert C. (Sharon) Janiga, and by her grandchildren Cameron Janiga and Lindsey Janiga.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert D. Janiga, parents Carrel F. Hathaway and Genevieve R. Hathaway, and sister Kathleen Linse. Services private by family. Donations may be made to Hospice of the Calumet Area. Burns Funeral Home, Crown Point, has been entrusted with arrangements.
