District 171 Board meeting – 6:30 p.m.

The June 17 meeting of the District 171 School Board begins at 6:30 p.m. at Heritage Middle School, 19266 Burnham Avenue in Lansing.

    • The mission of Sunnybrook School District 171 is to maximize student achievement by cultivating critical thinking skills, innovative instructional practices and a collaborative school, home, and community partnership.

  5. Any person wishing to address the Board about an item that is on the agenda should do so when that item is up for discussion. Visitors’ statements will be limited to two minutes per person. A total of thirty minutes will be allocated for Visitors’ Statements at the end of the meeting. Items related to personnel issues will be redirected to the appropriate Administrator.

    • To approve the Regular Board of Education meeting minutes of May 20, 2024, June expenses and May payroll in the amount of $1,918,562.79, as presented.

    • Recommended Motion: To approve the Renewal of Renaissance and Freckle for grades K-8. A current progress monitoring program and an adaptive and target practice in the amount of no more than $75,000 paid out of Title 1.
    • Recommended Motion: To approve the budget and levy timeline, as presented:
      • August 12, 2024: Tentative 2024-2025 Budget (Informational only, no Board Action). Tentative budget on display in the District Office.

    • Recommended Motion: To approve the purchase of classroom furniture from KI, Inc. in the amount of $32,725 for Heritage Middle School 8th grade classrooms, as presented.
    • Recommended Motion: To approve the Independent Contractor Agreement for Ms. LeQuisha Dancy, Dancy Consulting, and Psychological Services for the 2024-2025 school year, as presented.

    • Recommended Motion: To approve the employment of Mr. Prince Nunn, Summer Worker/Student, effective June 18, 2024, salary of $14.00 per hour, (Cook County minimum wage for 2024, as presented.)
    • Recommended Motion: To approve the employment of Ms. Jayla Hodo, 4th grade teacher, salary of $51,242.00, BA +9, Step 3, effective for the 2024-2025 school year, pending successful background check results, as presented.

Schedule and Open Meetings Act

The Open Meetings Act requires that “An agenda for each regular meeting shall be posted at the principal office of the public body and at the location where the meeting is to be held at least 48 hours in advance of the holding of the meeting.” District 171 posts agendas and minutes on its website.
