Obituary Richard Cislo

Richard John Cislo, 81 of Lansing, IL, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Loving husband of the late Elaine Cislo; beloved son of the late Ann Cislo, adored father of Lisa (Edward) Cherbak, Julie Cislo Sykes, and the late Michael Cislo; fond brother of Robert Cislo and the late Arlene Matela; devoted grandfather to Scott (Marissa) Edburg, Zachary (Rinnah) Sykes, and Amber Edburg; caring great-grandfather to Hazel Johnson, John Owen, Charles and Henry Edburg; wonderful uncle to Jennifer (Tom), Noah and Caleb Adams, and Melanie (Michael), Brynn and Ben Berwanger.

Richard was born and raised in South Chicago where he attended St. Michael the Archangel Grammar School and CVS High School. He served in the Army from November 1964 to October 1967 when he was honorably discharged. He was honored with the National Defense Service Medal as well as the Sharpshooter Badge.

After attending trade school, Rich worked as a Printing Supervisor at Mills-American Envelope company where he met his lovely wife, Elaine. They went on to have 3 devoted children, 3 wonderful grandchildren, and 4 adorable great-grandchildren. He enjoyed playing video games with his children and grandchildren and loved getting together to play retro Atari Games with everyone and always winning his favorite game Missile Command. He looked forward to playing weekly card and dice games with his family.

Rich enjoyed bowling and golfing with his brother. Summertime fun at Cal Park for a few games of tennis always ended with us having root beer floats at Gram’s house, an ideal way to spend the day. He loved going to the casino with his wife, siblings, and children on special occasions trying to win at the one-armed bandits.

Rich was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle and will be greatly missed by all of his family.

A visitation will be held on June 22, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with Military Honors and eulogy starting at 5:00 p.m. at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Avenue Munster, IN.
