Lansing residents will receive a discount for recycling at CHaRM on June 22

$20 discount on upcoming bill available

LANSING, Ill. (June 9, 2024) – The Village of Lansing is teaming up with South Suburban College’s CHaRM (Center for Hard to Recycle Materials) to educate residents on recycling opportunities at the South Holland facility.

The Village will celebrate Lansing Day at CHaRM on Saturday, June 22, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. CHaRM is located on the north side of the campus of South Suburban College, 15800 S. State Street, South Holland.

The first 50 Lansing residents who drop off recyclables will receive a $20 discount on their upcoming water bills. To qualify, residents must bring a copy of their water bills; one discount is available per address.

CHaRM provides a convenient solution for recycling items not accepted curbside or elsewhere, such as Styrofoam; electronics and small appliances (anything with a cord); clothing, shoes, and textiles; and toys.

Additionally, CHaRM supports apartment renters, condo dwellers, and others without access to curbside recycling by accepting items like paper; cardboard; glass bottles and jars; plastic bottles, tubs, jugs and jars; and metal cans.

For a full list of accepted items, visit ssc.edu/charm.

The Village of Lansing encourages its residents to use the CHaRM Center at any time during its operating hours. The center will expand its list of accepted materials next year, providing even more recycling options for the community.
