LANSING, Ill. (January 23, 2024) – The queen has been found! The Lansing Association for Community Events (LACE) “Queen of Hearts” raffle jackpot grew to a whopping $67,985 over 52 weeks before the winning card was pulled last Tuesday evening.
Lucky winner
Jesse Kikkert was the grand prize winner of the most recent Queen of Hearts raffle. His ticket number 44 turned out to be the queen everyone had been looking for.
He says it is his first time participating in the raffle.
Kikkert was presented with a check for over $30,000 by LACE members on January 20 at Pour on Roy.
“It’s exciting and surreal”, said Kikkert. “I don’t think it has really hit me yet.”
He was awarded 50% of the pot instead of the traditional 60%. The winner must be present at the drawing to receive 60% of the pot according to the rules of the raffle.
Kikkert says he was unable to attend on the evening of the drawing because his daughter had a volleyball game at that time as well.
The remaining funds go to LACE to help support community events, including Lansing’s annual Autumn Fest, sponsorships, and scholarships.
How to play the Queen of Hearts raffle
Queen of Hearts is a progressive pot raffle using a deck of cards turned face down on a board and numbered 1 through 54 including the two jokers. Players purchase raffle tickets with one of the 54 numbers on it.
One card is pulled every week until the queen of hearts is drawn.
Each week the queen is not found, the pot increases. The raffle continues until the 54th week passes.
Buying tickets
The next Queen of Hearts raffle will start on February 13 at Pour on Roy.
The drawing will continue to take place every Tuesday at 7 p.m. until the queen of hearts is pulled.
Tickets are $1 each, but a special discount is provided for those who purchase 6 or more tickets.
Players must include their first and last name, phone number, and chosen card number from the deck on their raffle ticket to qualify for the drawing.
Pour on Roy is located at 18155 Roy Street in Lansing.
