Nancy Helen Wallace (nee Ketzenberg), 74, of Calumet City, Illinois, passed away on January 10, 2024, with her family by her side. Beloved wife of 42 years to James. Loving mother to Jeffrey. Cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews. Nancy grew up in the Uptown area of the North Side of Chicago and graduated from Senn High School in 1967.
Making a difference was important to Nancy, which is how she came to work as Coordinator at the Northwestern University School of Law’s Legal Clinic in the 1970s and 80s, a career of which she was very proud. Nancy also loved one of the distinct art forms of her beloved hometown of Chicago, improvisational comedy, studying at the city’s famed The Players Workshop in the 1990s. She was best known for her strong sense of kindness, empathy, and generosity as well as her intelligence, wit, and unique sense of humor. She also had an adventurous side, embarking on many legendary road trips across the country. She’s also remembered for her deep love for her pets including Patches, Yorkie, Little White, Sasha, Tiger, Spike, Gurf, Bud, Ginger, and Jagger.
Nancy’s passing is felt by all who knew her; with her friends, she made many warm memories while the sense of loss with her family cannot be put into words, but her love will be felt eternally. In accordance with Nancy’s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Her immediate family will have a private ceremony.
