Obituary Carol Schultz

Carol Anne Schultz, age 81 of Lansing IL, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 8, 2024. She is survived by her husband Paul Schultz and shared 62 years of faithful marriage. Carol was a loving mother to her children Kathy (Dan) Duley, John (Marla) Schultz, and Ed (Clair) Schultz.

One of her greatest joys are grandchildren Nathan, Anna, Emma, and Kyle; and great grandchildren Brooks, Malachi, Sadie, and Hezekiah. Carol is survived by her siblings Cecelia Kenney, Carl (Rosa) Fleck, Joan Fleck, and sister-in-law Phyllis Fleck. She is preceded in death by her brother Jim Fleck, sister-in-law Mary (Tom) Vargo, brother-in-law John “Moose” Schultz, and her parents Carl and Rita (Rearick) Fleck of Hobart, Indiana.

Through photography, Carol documented innumerable everyday moments with family and friends. Her scrapbooking albums are labors of love she had the pleasure of creating. Giving to others came natural to Carol, whether offering her time to start a Lansing preschool, teach in children’s ministries, or help with gardening at church. She enjoyed sharing Scriptures and encouragement through homemade cross-stitching gifts.

Carol was always willing to sit and listen to those she loved, willing to express her empathy and offer encouragement. She was pleased when chosen as a perfect bone marrow match when her brother Jim was diagnosed with leukemia, and as his donor she added many additional years to his life. Carol also recounted it a miraculous blessing in her life to have not experienced any adverse effects during the donation, feeling comfortable and at peace.

Her faith was steadfast throughout decades of faithfulness following Jesus. She will be remembered as a kind and gracious wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend. Friends are invited to visit with Carol’s family on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services for Carol will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Carol will be laid to rest at Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood, Illinois. Carol was loved by many and will be truly missed.
