Red Wolves football opener pushed to Saturday due to heat forecast

TF South’s football season will start a little later than expected.

The Red Wolves’ opener at Hammond Central has been postponed until Saturday because of excessive heat forecast for Thursday. Kickoff will be at 6 p.m.

This is the third date for the game. It was originally scheduled for Friday, but was moved up one day because of a shortage of officials.

TF South is playing its first four games of the season on the road as construction continues on its stadium renovation, which includes the installation of artificial turf. The Red Wolves are looking to bounce back after finishing 3-6 and missing the IHSA playoffs last season.

Two more local teams will open their season on Friday. TF North and first-year coach Anthony Pignatiello play at Proviso West and Marian Catholic hosts Rich Township. Both games start at 7 p.m.
