South Suburban Genealogical & Historical Society hosts ‘Making History Relevant’ on August 12

HAZEL CREST, Ill. (August 7, 2023) – South Suburban Genealogical & Historical Society will host Tina Beaird, owner of Tamarack Genealogy, on Saturday, August 12 at 10 a.m.

Beaird will make a presentation entitled, “Making History Relevant: Promoting Your Society in Fun and Creative Ways.”

A description of the event says, “Many historians and genealogists lament the ‘death’ of history in the cyber age. The opposite is true. Museums and societies of all sizes are using innovative and engaging ways to make history fun!”

Beaird will suggest strategies and techniques for capturing modern communities’ attention, and engaging with them in “profitable and exciting” ways.

The event will take place in-person at the South Suburban Genealogical & Historical Society Library at 3000 W. 170th Place in Hazel Crest. Those preferring to attend via Zoom can register at this link.

South Suburban Genealogical & Historical Society’s website says, “SSGHS welcomes those interested in genealogy, family history, and local history in the Chicago Southland. Our research library and meeting space are located at the west end of the Village of Hazel Crest Public Safety Building.”
