LANSING, Ill. (November 5, 2022) – This year’s Veterans Day Service at the Lansing Veterans Memorial specifically honors women veterans. The ceremony will feature LTC Dianna D. Hilson MSN, FNP-BC as the guest speaker. Hilson joined the military in 1989 as an enlisted Private First Class (PFC) in the Illinois Army National Guard with the 508th Area Support Medical Company (ASMC). She served in a variety of roles until her retirement a few weeks ago.

Hilson has received awards in both the military and the civilian sector, most recently the Military Nurse of the Year Award (2019) from the National Black Nurses Association.

The Lansing Veterans Memorial Ceremonial Honor Guard (LVMCHG) has invited all women veterans past and present to participate in the service, either in uniform or in civilian clothes. The annual service is always scheduled on the Sunday before Veterans Day, in recognition of those who have served or are now serving in the Armed Forces both in peacetime and in war. The LVMCHG hosts and leads the service.

The service will take place regardless of weather, moving into the Ford Hangar if necessary. Lawn chairs are suggested.

The Lansing Veterans Memorial is located at the southeast corner of Burnham and Glenwood-Lansing Road.
