Thursday: Showers and a thunderstorm possible

The Sandhill Crane commonly known as Carrie strolled down 186th Street Thursday morning, singing her distinctive song. The crane has a damaged wing, but the Lansing Police Department says she is capable of "limited flight," and they urge residents to leave the four-foot bird alone. "She has a good chance of healing and survival on her own," reads a post on the Lansing Illinois Police Department Facebook page. "Please do not attempt to approach or capture Carrie as she may end up hurting herself or you." (Photo and video: Melanie Jongsma)
