LANSING, Ill. (March 23, 2022) — Baseball had a busy week, playing four games and winning half of them. Badminton “suffered” its first second-place finish, and soccer, volleyball, and tennis also played. Scores below:
TFS Baseball
April 11
Opponent: Hillcrest High School
Result: TFS beat Hillcrest 17-0
Jack Starcevich led the way for TFS, throwing a no-hitter and 10 strikeouts. Jason Urdiales went 2-2 with two doubles and two RBIs. Khanon Gresham had two hits, two stolen bases and four runs. Pedro Serna had two RBIs as well.
April 12
Opponent: Hillcrest High School
Result: TFS beat Hillcrest 19-0
In the second game against Hillcrest in as many days, TFS was led by Pedro Serna, who three hitless innings and struck out eight. Dylan Modjeski went 2-2 in the game, with three RBIs and two runs scored.
April 14
Opponent: Eisenhower High School
Result: TFS fell to Eisenhower 6-4
Caden Podgorski went 2-3 with a stolen base and a run in the game.
April 15
Opponent: Richards High School
Result: TFS lost to Richards 12-11
TFS was led by J. Clark who went 2-5 with three doubles and four RBIs.
TFS Badminton
April 9
Result: After winning three straight invitationals, TFS took second place behind state-ranked Metea Valley High School.
April 12
Opponent: Glenbard East High School
Result: TFS bested Glenbard East 10-5
April 14
Opponent: Shepard High School
Result: Both the TFS Varsity and JV teams went 15-0 against Shepard.
April 14
Opponents: Lincoln-Way East, Plainfield East , Homewood-Flossmoor, Stagg, and DeKalb High Schools
Result: TFS handily won first place in its fourth invitational of the year.
TFS Boys Tennis
April 11
Opponent: Thornwood High School
strong>Result: TFS lost to Thornwood 4-1
Only one team from TFS was victorious Monday — Adrian Perez and Cameron Turner.
April 12
Opponent: Eisenhower High School
strong>Result: TFS beat Eisenhower 3-2
Adrian Sanchez and Javier Alcantar won their singles matches Tuesday, with Cameron Turner and Adrian Sanchez emerging victorious in their doubles match.
April 14
Opponent: Argo High School
strong>Result: TFS lost to Argo 3-2
Adrian Sanchez and Javier Alcantar won their singles matches Tuesday. All three doubles squads lost for TFS.
TF United Girls Soccer
April 12
Opponent: Shepard High School
Result: The TFS and TFN combined team beat Shepard 5-2.
TFU Junior Alanis Gonzalez scored two goals and had an assist in the game. Junior Jazmine Herrera also scored two goals. Berenice Zepeda had two assists in the game, and Zayda Gil had one.
TFU is now 3-4 on the season.
TF United Mens Volleyball
April 14
Opponent: Oak Lawn High School
Result: TFU’s Varsity squad lost 25-14, 16-25, 20-25, while the JV squad lost 25-15, 25-10
