LANSING, Ill. (October 8, 2021) – This week’s video includes a few “things we want to tell you” prompted by stories published in the previous week. Stories referenced in the video are linked below.
Editor’s note: The Lan-Oak Park District discusses projects like the master plan at Bock Park or the skate park at Park Plaza over the course of multiple months or years, with multiple opportunities for public comment. These large-scale projects are not the result of one Committee of the Whole meeting and one subsequent Board meeting.

Good vid. Don’t you think the village could use more little libraries in the parks?
Thanks Eb. It’s possible that Little Free Libraries might enhance our parks, although Lansing already has about seven Little Free Libraries in other locations. Most recently, four were built by Ted Gray as part of an Eagle Scout requirement (https://thelansingjournal.com/2021/02/22/little-free-libraries-and-outdoor-concert-part-of-lansing-teens-eagle-scout-project/). Others have been provided by New Hope Church, the Lansing Public Library, and a group at TF South. The Calumet City Lions also installed one at a park in Calumet City. If there are other Lansing organizations or individuals who want to provide a Little Free Library, they could certainly discuss locations with the Lan-Oak Park District. Nice idea.
