By Josh Bootsma
SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. (September 25, 2021) – On Saturday, October 2, Thorn Creek Reformed Church will once again host a blood drive in honor of Kimberly Blummer. In March of 2020, Thorn Creek member Kimberly Blummer lost her battle with cancer, and Saturday’s blood drive will be the second annual event to be held in her honor.
The drive will occur from 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Thorn Creek Reformed Church, located at 1875 E. 170th Street in South Holland.
Blood donation service Vitalant’s website currently says, “Urgent need for all blood types.”

Although walk-ins are welcome, appointments are recommended. To schedule an appointment, call Lorna Bischof at 708-474-3563 or email [email protected]. Or call Vitalant at 877-258-4825 or visit Vitalant.org and use group code: 007I. Masks are required for unvaccinated donors.
More information about the history of the annual drive, including information on Kimberly Blummer, is available in last year’s story on the event.
