United States and Illinois flags at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, June 19, 2021
The Department of Central Management Services has received notice from Governor JB Pritzker that June 19th, 2021 — Juneteenth National Freedom Day — be honored by all flags covered by the Illinois Flag Display Act flying at half-staff.
On this soon-to-be state holiday, all Illinoisans are urged to reflect on U.S. history, our nation’s future, and the actions all citizens can take, individually and collectively, to truly build America into the equitable nation of our ideals — a land of freedom and opportunity for all.

Please lower the United States flags and the State flags at all buildings occupied by your agency’s personnel from:

Quite counterintuitive that we would celebrate the freedom of slaves with a sign of mourning.
I agree. Do not get it the mourning part as well.
Pritzker 19 Jun 2021 is supposed to be a CELEBRATION of FREEDOM and not a MEMORIAL TO FREEDOM. I will not lower my US FLAG to half staff.
