Matching gift allows LARC donors to double Giving Tuesday impact

information provided by LARC

LANSING, Ill. (November 21, 2019) – Lansing’s LARC has been blessed by three anonymous donors who, along with LARC’s Board of Directors, have agreed to match the first $3,350 donated to LARC as part of Giving Tuesday, December 1, 2020.

LARC is a charitable organization that provides individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities opportunities to work, live, and participate in their community. Originally formed in 1956 as a school for children (The Lansing School of Special Education), LARC has grown to provide community day services, work activities, 24-hour residential opportunities, and senior programming to approximately 100 adults from Lansing and the south suburbs. Funds raised on Giving Tuesday will help provide staffing, services, and work opportunities.

“This year has been extremely challenging for everyone, and LARC is no exception,” say LARC representatives. The nonprofit organization has worked hard to adjust the way they provide services, in order to keep clients and staff safe and healthy.

Sharon Doughney, a sister of one of LARC’s clients, adds, “LARC has done an amazing job under difficult circumstances.” To LARC she says, “Thank you for keeping our family safe…. [Y]ou work so hard to provide the training and socialization that our dear family members need.”

Donations to LARC are welcome any time, and those who prefer to take advantage of the matching gift are encouraged to mark their calendars and donate at on or before Giving Tuesday, December 1.
