CHICAGO, Ill. (December 3, 2019) – Monday morning, December 2, veteran prosecutor and former Cook County Circuit Court judge Pat O’Brien filed nominating paperwork for Cook County State’s Attorney.
Expressing eagerness to begin campaigning in earnest, O’Brien submitted the signatures of thousands of concerned voters at 9:10am, qualifying him to be placed first on the ballot for Cook County State’s Attorney in the upcoming March 17, 2020, Republican primary.
“I am proud to have drawn encouragement from a diverse group of voters across Cook County,” O’Brien said after filing, “and today, with their signatures of endorsement, I make my campaign to bring real reform to the State’s Attorney’s office official.”
Pat O’Brien worked for both Republican and Democratic State’s Attorneys, trying hundreds of misdemeanor and felony cases as Felony Trial Supervisor, Bureau Chief of the Criminal Division, and Chief Deputy, accountable for over 700 Assistant Attorneys handling criminal cases in Cook County. In 2006, O’Brien was elected as a Judge of the Cook County Circuit Court, where he presided for 8 years until resigning in 2015.
