Schultz, who was born and raised in Lansing, will share historical information from his years as a mail carrier delivering mail to the businesses along Ridge Road. Typical points of interest include:
- Memories of the fire that destroyed First Reformed Church
- How to recognize a Sears House
- Why there were blackboards in the walls at Jack’s Pub
- What Cole & Young Jewelers used to be
- The house that was picked up and moved to a different corner
- Before Fox Pointe—where the Lansing Municipal Band used to play
Each year Schultz includes a different mix of facts and anecdotes, and participants are invited to share their own memories and questions, so the Lansing Historical Walk varies from year to year.
Participants will meet at 6:00pm behind Gayety’s Chocolates & Ice Cream (3306 Ridge Road). No previous registration is required, and there is no cost for the tour.
