LANSING, Ill. (September 20, 2020) – In a year that has seen job layoffs, business shutdowns, a global pandemic, racial tension, and murder hornets, long-term financial planning feels like a luxury. But Doug Horne understands that having a plan in place can often make the difference between outlasting a crisis and succumbing to it. Horne is a Financial Associate with Thrivent, a national financial services company with an office in Lansing. Eric Himmel and Jason Gena also work from the Lansing office.
Thrivent services include financial advice, investment opportunities, insurance, banking, and charitable giving opportunities. Financial advisors work from local offices to help people assess their current financial situation and plan for the future.
The Lansing office used to be located on Torrence Avenue but has recently moved to 3546 Ridge Road, the building that also houses Molenaar Eyecare Specialists. Horne says the move has given Thrivent greater visibility in Lansing, which is important for people who may not believe “financial services” are for them.
Thrivent is hosting an Open House at their new location on Thursday, October 1, from 2:00–7:00pm. Horne hopes people will stop in, enjoy refreshments, and tour the offices. “Hopefully nice weather will also allow us to enjoy some bean bag toss!” he adds. No products will be sold at the event; it is simply an opportunity for Horne and other staff to introduce themselves in a social setting.
Attendees are also invited to bring nonperishable food items to the Open House. Those items will be gathered and donated to Lansing’s local food pantry.
