Round the Clock demolished to make way for Chick-fil-A

5,200-square-foot Chick-fil-A hopes to open by end of 2024

LANSING, Ill. (April 5, 2024) – The building at 17601 Torrence Avenue, the former home of Round the Clock, was demolished this week to prepare for a Chick-fil-A location that will soon begin construction.

The high-profile site, with proximity to Torrence Avenue and the expressway, is expected to become a popular stop.

“We expect to get a good combination of business from the interstate as well as in the local community within Lansing,” said Jason Hill, director of development and construction for the Midwest Region for Chick-fil-A, at a Lansing Planning and Zoning Commission hearing in December 2023.

“If all goes well, we would love to be open by latter part of [2024],” Hill said.

The nearly 5,200-square-foot location will include a two-lane drive-thru and outdoor seating.

Chick-fil-A representatives appeared before the Lansing Planning and Zoning Commission and Village Board of Trustees to receive approval for a drive-thru, outdoor seating, and a Class 8 tax incentive.

An attorney representing the restaurant said in January the finished property would result in about $189,000 per year in property taxes. Additionally, the attorney said the Lansing location would bring in an estimated $60,000 per year in sales tax for the village.

“Our closest one is Homewood and Schererville,” Hill said in December, 2023. “We’ve got a gap in the market here, and Lansing has a great presence, a great community.”

  1. I glad some other business took their place it became oblivious they were close for good at that location, I’m just disappoint because now since I’m from South Holland I have to ride to Indiana a little further, my family as well as extended family use to meet up at that location quite frequently.
