LANSING, Ill. (November 29, 2021) – Over a dozen people gathered Monday morning in front of a storefront that has drawn the eyes of many Lansing residents in recent months: Kdulche Café.

Owners Eduardo Zepeda and Paola Ayala cut a red ribbon in front of their dusty pink property on Ridge Road, and invited attendees inside to sample the food that will be on the menu for customers when the business opens on Tuesday, November 30.

Lansing officials, Chamber of Commerce members, and supporters of Zepeda and Ayala were among those to get a sneak peek of the long-anticipated café, which the owners hope will bring a Mexican-inspired gathering and eating place to the heart of Lansing.

The menu includes breakfast items; lunch items like sandwiches, salads, wraps, and tortas; sweet treats like milkshakes, smoothies, and crepes; and drinks like specialty teas, juices, and coffee.

Over a year in the process, Kdulche Café is the former home of The Hanger, a clothing store that vacated the property after starting at the location in 2019.

After cutting the ribbon, Perez thanked the Village and expressed his hopefulness for Kdulche’s future in Lansing, a town that has seen growth in its Latino population in recent decades.

“We are from Guadalajara, Mexico,” Zepeda said, gesturing to his business partner Ayala. “I’ve been here since I was fifteen, so I feel more that I belong here more than my home country.”

Starting on November 30, Zepeda and Ayala hope to bring Guadalajara to Lansing. Their café will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. On Sundays, the café will be open from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

  1. Best of luck to you ! At least it was not another hair/nail salon ! hope you last longer tha the Hangar ! I hope it all works out better than the Nexican Bakery that was weat of there ! They had great apple fritters !

  2. I stopped in at lunch time for a quick look-see the day after the ribbon cutting and found my self “charmed”. I loved the atmosphere, the service was great even tho they were quite busy! Mosts important my BLT sandwich was very tasty with ample serving of bacon on a baguette … served with a side of pasta salad, too!

I am thrilled to have them in Lansing with such a well thought out and delicious menu . . . the decor will lift your spirit.
