LANSING, Ill. (March 3, 2024) – Dozens of church members filed into the fellowship hall at Bethel Church an hour before the Sunday service on March 3. A table of refreshments may have been the initial attraction, but congregants were quick to take their coffee and sweetbreads around the perimeter of the room, where 10 community organizations were stationed at tables, forming a “Mission Marketplace.”
The purpose of the Mission Marketplace was to introduce Bethel church members to existing opportunities to make a difference in the community. The Marketplace included:
- Bethel’s Micro Pantry
- Bible League International
- Lansing Community Food Pantry
- Roseland Christian Ministries Thrift Store
- Pathway to Jesus
- Right to Life
- Sheltered 91
- The Lansing Journal
- The Welcome Network
The Mission Marketplace was in session for an hour before Bethel’s regular 10 a.m. Sunday service, and the fellowship hall remained active throughout that time.
The mission team who organized the Mission Marketplace expressed appreciation for the turnout and for the community organizations who participated.
Bethel Church is located at 3500 Glenwood-Lansing Road in Lansing, Illinois.
