Fine Tune Auto plans expansion to neighboring vacant property

LANSING, Ill. (September 13, 2023) – A longtime car repair shop in the village is looking to expand its footprint to better serve its customers.

Jason Brennan is the owner of Fine Tune Auto, which moved to Lansing in 2006 after initially opening in East Hazel Crest.

“We started 2003, so this is our 20th year,” Brennan said.

The shop at 17546 Chicago Avenue offers a wide variety of services. “Anything that can break or need maintained on your car we can fix it or maintain it, except for collision repair,” Brennan said.

The store has six service bays to work on vehicles.

“During our busy times we can definitely use an extra bay,” Brennan said.

Expanding Fine Tune Auto

And he is working on a solution to that problem. “We’re in the process of purchasing the building next door,” he said.

That structure at 17550 Chicago Avenue is currently vacant.

“It was Al’s Collision,” Brennan said. “Unfortunately, Al passed away.”

Brennan said he will keep the building already there and use it to grow his business.

“It’ll give us one extra repair bay and more parking spots,” Brennan said. “And then as we need to we can expand into the rest of it.”

Brennan employs five workers at the Lansing location and said he is likely to hire one more with the added space.

Brennan opened a second location in Hobart, IN two years ago.

Inspections, oil changes, and more

He said Fine Tune Auto can service any make and model and is known for its excellent warranty, timely repairs, and great technicians and service advisors.

“When we do an oil change here we’ll always do a full digital vehicle inspection,” Brennan said.

He said that inspection comes free with the oil change and allows customers to view on their phones pictures the technician took of any items needing attention.

Bonus space

Danylle Johnson is the store manager in Lansing and said the extra space will allow the business to “get more cars in, get cars out faster, back to the customers, back on the road.”

Brennan said not having an abandoned building in the neighborhood is an added bonus.

“We’re going to fix it up and keep it looking nice,” Brennan said.

Brennan said he anticipates the purchase of the building will be completed by the end of September.

He said a special use permit was not needed since the location was already zoned for auto repair, but he is awaiting Cook County’s approval for a tax incentive that he said has received backing by the Village of Lansing.

Fine Tune Auto is located at 17546 Chicago Avenue in Lansing.
