LANSING, Ill. (September 13, 2019) – In the fall of 2018 the Outreach Committee from New Hope Church decided to build and install a Little Free Library to serve surrounding neighbors and others in Lansing. Their goal was to be a source of quality reading material in an easy-to-access setting.

The library was designed, built, and installed by committee members Seth Schoon and Ron Tuinstra. The committee also decided to officially register the library with the Little Free Library organization. A registration plaque bearing the number 87860 is installed on the front of the library.

The motto of the Little Free Library organization is “Take a Book – Share a Book.” As with all Little Free Libraries, books stocked in New Hope’s Little Free Library are available free of charge. Readers are encouraged to take and read a book, then share the book with someone else or return it to the library. People may also place a good book of their own in the library for others to read and enjoy.
