Local government
The Village of Lansing is organized into separate agencies that manage our parks, schools, and government. Those agencies hold public meetings to conduct business, and we post agendas ahead of time as we are notified. Every two years, Lansing residents have opportunities to vote for members of the Park Board, the Library Board, the Village Board, Thornton Fractional District 215 School Board, either Sunnybrook District 171 or District 158 School Board, and either Thornton Township or Bloom Township officials. Elected officials are in a position to build community through strategic budget decisions, consistent enforcement of ordinances, fair assessment of property, continuous development of programs, and casting vision for the long-term public good.
