Weather photo exhibition to be deinstalled Thursday, May 30

Purchasers to pick up their photos between 9 and 11 a.m.

LANSING, Ill. (May 18, 2024) – The 24 photographs that comprise the “Lansing Through the Seasons” photo exhibition will be deinstalled from the library’s gallery wall on Thursday, May 30. Library Outreach Coordinator Andrew Harootunian will assist members of the Journal team with unhooking the exhibits from the cable hanging system and packaging them in their original boxes for pick-up.

More than half of the photo exhibits were purchased — some by the photographer, others by local art lovers who wanted to own a piece of Lansing.

Response to the exhibition has been positive, and The Lansing Journal and the Lansing Public Library have begun brainstorming about their next collaboration. A second installment of weather photos is one idea under consideration. A series of Journal Journeys photos is another.

Members of the community are encouraged to visit the current display before May 30, “Deinstallation Day.”

Interested purchasers are encouraged to email [email protected] for information about which photos are available for purchase. Each exhibit includes not only the photo, but also its date of publication in The Lansing Journal and the caption that appeared with it. The $100 price covers the material cost of producing the enlargements, which have been printed on canvas, metal, or acrylic.

The gallery wall is on the second level of the library, facing the main entrance.
