LANSING, Ill. (September 17, 2023) – The Lansing Human Relations Commission event “Lan-Sing: Music for the Soul” was cancelled due to extreme weather conditions. The event was scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 17 from 1 – 4 p.m. at Fox Pointe in Lansing.
The free event would have been the first of its kind for the commission and the outdoor venue. It was intended to celebrate the many forms of inspirational music produced and enjoyed in and around Lansing’s diverse community.
This is the second time the event has been postponed.
The commission first started planning the event a few years ago but it was put on hold due to the pandemic, according to organizers.
The event is set to be rescheduled for a later date. “We are looking at a date in October,” said Valerie McDaniels, chairperson of the Lansing Human Relations Commission.
