Journal Java Journeys: The Schurmans and their dogs

-

Photo submitted by Dave Schurman

LANSING, Ill. (May 12, 2023) – Dave and Janice Schurman are active participants in our Lansing Journal Journeys feature, so it’s not surprising that they would be among the first to submit a Journal Java Journeys photo. And it’s not surprising that they would manage to get the Journal Java Chip poster AND the Journal Java Chip ice cream in their photo!

“Well, you know us and our love of The Journal,” wrote Dave Schurman, “so how could we not try your flavor of ice cream on a beautiful Thursday evening? Janice and I took our two dogs Sage and Trooper, along with our foster dog Tino, for a walk to Gayety’s just to try out the Journal Java Chip (which is quite good).” (Photo: Dave Schurman)

Thank you, Schurman Family!

Anytime you buy Journal Java Chip at Gayety’s Ice Cream, they will donate a portion of the proceeds to The Lansing Journal. It’s a delicious way to support two local businesses.

About our new feature, Journal Java Journeys

Lansing Journal Journeys

As a community newspaper, The Lansing Journal looks for creative ways to invite the community into our pages. One of our longest-running series is Lansing Journal Journeys, an award-winning feature that showcases people displaying The Lansing Journal in creative locations.

Journal Java Journeys is an offshoot of Journal Journeys that celebrates The Lansing Journal’s creative partnership with Gayety’s.

Send us your Journal Java Journeys photos

To participate, you don’t have to travel, and you don’t have to remember to take a copy of The Lansing Journal with you. Just go to Gayety’s and take your photo in front of one of the three Journal Java Chip posters there. OR, take a photo with your order of Journal Java Chip — in a dish or a cone. Bonus points if you get the ice cream and the poster in the same photo!

Email your photos to [email protected] and tell us:

  1. The names of any people in the photo
  2. The name of the person who took the photo

We publish these community photos online as soon as possible. Make sure you are subscribed, so you see your photos when we post them!
