March 18, 1930 – April 28, 2023
Marinus “Mart” Boer, age 93, of St. John, IN, went home to his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 28, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Shirley Boer, nee Vander Giessen. Loving father of Robert (Laurie) Boer, Linda (Scott) Dekker, and Elaine (Bill) DeYoung. Proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents Gerrit and Lena Boer and his four siblings: Tillie Walstra, Bastian Boer, Rev. Edward Boer, and Harry Boer.
Mr. Boer was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and a long-time member of Munster Christian Reformed Church. He was loved by many and will be missed.
Visitation Wednesday, May 3, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN, with Rev. Jim Hollendoner officiating. The funeral service will be live streamed from our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/SmitsFH. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery – Lansing, IL.
