Yard waste collection and branch chipping begins April 3 in Lansing

LANSING, Ill. (April 2, 2023) – Starting on Monday, April 3, Lansing residents can once again place their yard waste in toters for pick-up by Homewood Disposal. Brown yard waste bags will also be picked up.

Yard waste includes grass clippings, leaves, and small sticks and branches. Things not to be place in the yard waste container include mulch, fertilizer bags, rocks, dirt, and plastic pots.

Small branches

Homewood Disposal will also pick up bundles of branches. The must be shorter than four feet in length and branches should be less than six inches in diameter. These bundles should be placed next to Homewood Disposal yard waste toters.

Tree chipper service for large branches

Starting on April 3, Lansing Public Works will return to its chipper service for large branches. This service will take place on the same day as Homewood Disposal’s yard waste collection, if weather allows. Residents must place large branches on their front parkways to participate.
