Obituary: Jacoba G. Hillsamer (nee Bos)

Jacoba (nee Bos) Hillsamer, 80, of Lansing, Illinois, passed away on Thursday February 23, 2023. She is survived by her brother, Henry Bos, daughter, Rebecca (nee Hillsamer) Kessl, son-in-law, Justin Kessl, and grandchildren Hannah, Joshua, and Collette Kessl. She is preceded in death by parents Jacob and Jennie Bos, and ex-husband Marvin Hillsamer.

Jacoba worked in the laundry industry in Lansing and Munster for many years. She worked at Lansing Cleaners, Oak Glen Speed Wash, and Munster Laundry. She loved attending First Church in Lansing and Bingo at the Eisenhower Center two days a week. She liked doing latch hook rugs, doing word searches, and working on picture puzzles. She lived her life with integrity and serving others by visiting with people she would meet at work, while playing bingo, or any place she was at.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday March 3, 2023, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, Illinois. Funeral services for Jacoba will be held on Saturday March 4, 2023, at 11 AM with a visitation before the service from 10:00 to 11:00 at First Church PCA, 3134 Ridge Road Lansing, IL, with Reverend Andrew Nearpass officiating. Jacoba will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cementary, Lansing, Illinois. Jacoba was loved by many, and she will truly be missed.
