Theresa Kubiak, nee Savas, age 94 of South Holland, IL passed away Friday, February 3, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Raymond Joseph Kubiak. Loving mother of Katherine (late John) Biesiada, Joseph (Heidi) Kubiak, Chris (Kathleen) Kubiak, Gregory (Susan McCay) Kubiak, and George (Kim) Kubiak; devoted grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of 11. Dear sister of the late Sam Savas, late Mary (late Stanley) Gollias, late Pete (late Shirley) Savas, late Pat (Tina) Savas, late Phil Savas, late Angie (late Bob) Litawa, and the late Helen (late Pete) Nickeas. Kind aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Theresa was a long-time owner of Cunis Candies in South Holland, first with her Uncle George and then continuing on with her children and grandchildren. She was kind and gracious and would always welcome people into her home. Theresa loved teaching Sunday School for many years at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Olympia Fields. Her grandchildren recall with fondness Sunday dinners at her house, where they would cook together and enjoy family time and eating together (especially her meatballs!). She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
Visitation Tuesday, February 7, 2023, from 4 – 8 p.m. with Trisagion Service at 7 p.m. at Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home 649 E. 162nd Street, South Holland, IL. Funeral service Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at 10 a.m. directly at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church 10301 S. Kolmar Avenue, Oak Lawn, IL. Interment Evergreen Cemetery – Evergreen Park, IL. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Nicholas Church.
