LANSING, Ill. (January 31, 2023) – “You make me want to live in Lansing.” Someone said that to me this month.

She lives nearby but not directly in town. She’s a regular reader of The Lansing Journal. She loves being aware of the things going on in this community — new businesses, events at Fox Pointe, library programs. She even loves seeing the daily weather photo — all those interesting, funny, beautiful, random shots of Lansing scenery.

“You make me want to live in Lansing.”

That is such high praise for a community newspaper. Those eight words express what it feels like when we achieve our mission of Building Community. People want to live here.

That’s what you are accomplishing, readers and supporters. Each dollar you give makes it possible for us to report, publish, and deliver news. Each story you forward gives someone else a glimpse of what life is like here. Each concert you attend, each church you visit, each vote you cast, each restaurant you patronize — all of those are ways you are building community through news we provide. All of those actions turn information into connection.

Thank you for building community with us.
