Obituary: Mary Ann Strohmeyer

Mary Ann Strohmeyer (nee Butkiewicz), born in Chicago, lived in Lansing, Illinois, passed away surrounded by friends and family on December 14, 2022. She is survived by her nephew Charles (Rachel) Strohmeyer, loving goddaughter Sherry Fanelli, best friend Joann (Robert) Bertalan.

Everyone called her Aunt Mary Ann because she felt like an aunt to all. Nieces and nephews: Cheree, Joey, and Jonah Bertalan. Charlie and Jacob Strohmeyer. Mary, Laura, Austin, Amya Fanelli. Steven, Patrick (Deja), and Jonathan Gralewski. Great nephew: Freddy Gralewski. Her love of her life, her cat Iris. Many friends.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert Strohmeyer, parents Ester and Henry Butkiewicz, nephew Joey Bertalan, dog Mimi.

Mary Ann was a former nun of 14 years. A parishioner of St. Ann’s Church in Lansing, Illinois. She worked as a CNA for many years. She was Joey Bertalan’s caregiver and CNA for 25 years. She was an Elvis, Tina Turner, and Dolly Parton impersonator. She was part of the Lady Club at St. Ann’s Church. She loved to sing and dance at everyone’s parties. She was very kind and loved to help people. She loved the outdoors, camping, and swimming. She loved going out and having a great time. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

A Mass for Mary Ann Strohmeyer will be held Saturday, January 14, 10 a.m. at St Ann’s Church – All Souls Parish, 3010 Ridge Road, Lansing IL 60438.
