Obituary: Aaron Paul Schilling

1984 – 2023

Aaron Paul SchillingAaron Paul Schilling, 38, passed away on January 3, 2023, in LaGrange Park, Illinois. The second of four children, Aaron was a natural athlete who competed in numerous activities and charmed everyone with his outgoing personality and zest for life. His pride and joy were his two adorable daughters, Chloe and Alexis, to whom he was a loving and devoted father.

Aaron graduated from Glenbrook North High School in 2003 where he participated in football, band, wrestling, and gymnastics — the latter at the state level — and received many prestigious athletic awards. For eight consecutive summers, he worked as a lifeguard and pool manager for the Northbrook Park District where he made many lifelong friends. Aaron met the love of his life and future wife, Olya, while attending Oakton Community College where he earned an Associate Degree in 2006. He graduated from Northern Illinois University in 2009 with a Baccalaureate in Physical Education. That summer, Aaron reconnected with Olya whom he married. They welcomed their first daughter, Chloe, in 2010 followed by Alexis in 2011. While having two small children at home, Aaron pursued an MBA in School Business Management at Concordia University Chicago. Following his graduation in 2013, he served successfully in several Chicago suburban school districts — progressing from Payroll Clerk to most recently Director of Business Services. From 2015 to 2021, Aaron was one of four Regional Financial Consultants for the Illinois State Board of Education supporting school districts in nine counties with operational best practices and presenting at state conferences.

Aaron had an infectious smile and sense of humor that delighted everyone who knew him. He had many hobbies, among them motorsports, fishing, weightlifting, aquariums, renaissance fairs, and martial arts. Aaron loved nothing more than spending time with his family — riding bikes, playing video games, watching movies, and taking his girls to the park. Aaron enjoyed many childhood vacations that included camping, hiking, golfing, and rock climbing. He was much beloved by his wife’s extended family and their many friends.

Aaron is survived by his wife, Olya; two daughters, Chloe and Alexis; brothers Nathan (Nicole) and Brendan; sister Katherine; parents Craig and Laurel; in-laws Viktor and Ruslana; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 2245 Walters Avenue, Northbrook, IL 60062 on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 11 am with light refreshments following.

In lieu of flowers, donations to help with medical bills and living expenses are appreciated. Donations may be sent care of Olya Kashivska, PO Box 2403, Northbrook, IL 60065.
