Peter Dykstra, Jr., age 90, of Dyer, IN, formerly of Lansing, IL, went home to his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 6, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Rose Dykstra, nee Vander Wall. Loving father of Pamela (Harry) Gatton and Lisa (Jeff) Lyzenga. Cherished grandfather of Stephanie Gatton, Harry Gatton III, Ciara (Brad) Werblo, Jake Lyzenga, and Regan Lyzenga; great-grandfather of Grayson. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his five sisters and one brother, and by his parents Peter Sr. and Kate Dykstra.
Peter was a carpenter for many years and also was a certified window installer of Pella Windows where he was known as “Pella Pete”. Pete served his country as a United States Army Veteran. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Visitation Saturday, January 28, 2023, from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN, with Rev. Jim Hollendoner officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to Elim Christian Services or Illiana Christian High School.
