Thank you, December givers, for another year of growth

LANSING, Ill. (January 1, 2023) – I didn’t realize it until I looked back at the numbers today, but 2022 was another growth year for The Lansing Journal. By 11:30 p.m. on December 31, we had published a total of 1,652 stories. Our previous highest yearly total was 1,648 stories — and that was in 2020, when COVID-related updates sparked a 36% increase in the news we provided.

This year’s total marks a continuation of the growth we’ve seen in our years of serving this community:

Support makes growth possible

Each one of this year’s 1,652 articles cost money to write, publish, and deliver. We have been able to keep growing our coverage because our support has grown as well. In some cases, new supporters gave for the first time this year. In other cases, existing supporters increased the amount they gave. Growth in support makes growth in coverage possible.

Thank you, December sustainers

At The Lansing Journal, we are especially grateful for people who commit to giving a set amount each month. Not only do those gifts allow us to make plans for the year, but they also reduce our administrative costs and allow us to focus on our core product: local news.

Thank you, December supporters

Not everyone can give on a regular schedule, and some people prefer to respond to specific requests for help. This month, we are especially grateful for people who responded to our year-end appeals for help. Some of the names below are already regular sustainers, but they gave again so we could finish the year strong.
