Thursday: Winter Storm Warning begins at noon

LANSING, Ill. (December 21, 2022) – Thursday morning’s temps are forecast to start in the high 20s and low 30s, with precipitation beginning mid-morning. According to The Weather Channel, temps will fall sharply throughout the day, and snow will develop in the afternoon. Winds will increase to 15–25 mph. Predictions regarding snow accumulation range from 1–3 inches on Thursday to 4–8 inches by the time the storm is over on Friday.

White-out conditions are expected due to blowing snow on Thursday and Friday. Lansing Public Works is ready to plow and salt, though as temperatures dip below zero, salt will have little effect on icy roadways. Drivers are encouraged to stay off the roads Thursday and Friday, and park their cars in garages and driveways to allow plows through.
