Local Sierra Club to host ‘Supporting Healthy Agriculture’

Monday, November 14, 7:15 p.m.

Information provided by the Sauk-Calumet Group of the Sierra Club

FRANKFORT, Ill. (November 12, 2022) – The Sauk-Calumet Sierra Club Group will be having its next meeting on Monday, November 14th, at 7:15 pm on the Zoom online platform. The program will be, “Supporting Healthy Agriculture.”

“Natural,” “ecological,” “better for the planet” — labels like these are often found on food packaging. Can consumers know which labels are accurate, or whether they are being greenwashed? The Sauk-Calumet Group’s own Sam Bretz will talk about how to support agriculture that’s better for the planet, and how to evaluate all those labels so that shoppers truly get the products and food they want.

Bretz will also talk about food waste (issues and what we can be doing as individuals), the importance of shopping locally, and reusables.

All meetings are free and open to Sierra Club members as well as the general public. Those interested in joining the program virtually can use this link to register:

Registrants will receive an email in return with a link to join the program.

The Sierra Club is the nation’s largest grass-roots, conservation and political activism group, advocating for nature, natural landscapes, and a healthy environment since 1892.
