Rich was born in Hammond, Indiana, and grew up in Hegewisch, Illinois, in a large Polish family. Rich was raised in Hegewisch where he lived for 35 years and then moved to Lansing, Illinois, when he got married. He lived in Lansing for 40 years until he retired and eventually moved to his lifelong dream of owning a lake house for 7 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman from an early age and continued enjoying fishing with his good friends, John and Rich. He graduated from Mendell Catholic High School. He served in the Army from 1967 to 1969. Rich worked at Wisconsin Steel for over 20 years until it closed and then spent the rest of work history at the Village of Lansing Public Works Department. Rich had many great friend and family who loved him, and he will be truly missed. Grace and Olivia were his lifeline, and Kristina kept him organized with her handwritten daily letters to guide him. Eternal rest granted unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
