LANSING, Ill. (August 31, 2022) — Seasons are in full swing now, and many of the fall sports teams have had full weeks:
Girls Volleyball
Thursday, August 25
Opponent: Intrinsic Charter Downtown Campus
Result: The Red Wolves won 25-11, 25-6
Nyrobi Moore had eight kills and Kyndall Jackson had seven kills. Joya Hurey-Scott had nine assists. Yulissa Macudzinski had 13 serve points and four aces.
Saturday, August 27
Opponent: Bremen High School
Result: At a tournament hosted by Bremen TFS beat the hosting team 25-23, 25-22.
The win clinched third place at the tournament. Nyrobi Moore had five kills and Kyndall Jackson had four.
Monday, August 29
Opponent: Crete-Monee High School
Result: TFS defeated Crete-Monee 21-25, 26-24, 25-15.
Nyrobi Moore led the offensive with 12 kills. Raquel Murphy had three kills, eight serve points, and four blocks. Yulissa Macudzinski had 10 assists and 10 serve points. The team’s overall record is 5-2.
Girls Swimming
Tuesday, August 30
Opponents: Oak Lawn High School, Lemont High School
Result: TFU took third place overall (Lemont – 152, Oak Lawn – 104, TFU – 26)
TF United is a swim team comprised of both TF South and TF North students. Sophomore Aaliyah Harb placed third in the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Breaststroke.
Boys Cross Country
Tuesday, August 30
Opponents: Oak Forest High School, Evergreen Park High School
Result: The pack of Red Wolves ran to second place, (Oak Forest – 29, TFS – 49, Evergreen Park – 52).
Below are the results from the 3-mile race:
- Rodrigo Cortez – Sophomore (21:16) 3rd place (PR-personal record)
- Kenan Maxey – Sophomore (22:12) 7th place
- Carlos Cervantes – Junior (22:22) 9th place
- Ben Gresham – Sophomore (22:44) 14th place
- Adam Castellanos – Senior (25:22) 17th place
- Malcolm Richardson – Senior (25:22) 18th place (first cross country race ever)
- Gavin Cottrill – Senior (26:37) 22nd place
- Aaron Major – Junior (27:26) 25th place (first cross country race ever)
The Red Wolves will run next in the Rich Dust Invitational on Saturday, September 3.
Girls Cross Country
Tuesday, August 30
Opponents: Oak Forest High School, Evergreen Park High School
Result: TFS took third place in the meet (Oak Forest – 23, Evergreen Park – 48, TFS – 59).

- Alanis Gonzalez (25:52) 6th place
- Yanitzia Luna (26:57) 8th place
- Naitsa Fox (30:58) 14th place
- Mya Phillips (31:11) 15th place
- Jarena Shell (33:34) 16th place
Boys Soccer
Thursday, August 25
Opponent: Joliet Central
Result: TF United beat Joliet Central 2-1 in the Windy City Classic tournament.
TF South and TF North combine both their soccer programs to form TF United. Lexani Gaines scored the first goal for the Red Wolves and Adan Cabrera scored the second. Both goals were assisted by Giovanni Melgoza.
Thursday, August 27 – Game 1
Opponent: Richards
Result: TFU beat Richards 3-2 in the Windy City Classic tournament
Giovanni Melgoza had two goals in the game, with Lexani Gaines netting the third. Both Gaines and Adan Cabrera had an assist. Oswaldo Mendoza notched seven saves in the goal.
Thursday, August 27 – Game 2
Opponent: Argo
Result: After a tied game at 3-3, Argo beat TFU 4-2 on penalty kicks.
Giovanni Melgoza had three goals in the games, and one assist was provided by Fawaz Olarinde. Oswaldo Mendoza had six saves.
Wednesday, August 31
Opponent: Homewood-Flossmoor High School
Result: TFU beat HF 2-1
Giovanni Melgoza scored a game-winning goal with 10.8 seconds left in the game. He was assisted by Oscar Ramirez. Oswaldo Mendoza had five saves in the game. The combined team is now 3-2 on the season.
Boys Golf
Tuesday, August 30
Opponent: Tinley Park High School
Result: TFS fell to Tinley Park 203-182.
On the Emerald Course at Green Gardens, the Red Wolves fell to the Titans. TFS was led by sophomore Ryan Marnell (49), junior Andrew Danehl (50), senior Ethan Modjeski (51), and senior Ryan Avenatti (53).
Girls Tennis
Thursday, August 25
Opponent: Eisenhower High School
Result: TF South lost to Eisenhower 5-0.
Tuesday, August 30
Opponent: Tinley Park High School
Result: TF South beat Tinley Park 3-2.
Nancy Bob Nwojo won her singles match, as did doubles partners Azuri Akbar and Kaylyn Imala, and Samantha Vazquez and Elizabeth Alvarez.
