Information provided by Smits Funeral Home

Frank W. HuizengaFrank Huizenga joined his fellow angels suddenly on August 7, 2022. Frank was born on May 7th, 1953, to Robert and Anna Huizenga in Lansing, Illinois. Frank married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Sherry on February 16, 1974, and raised two children, Christopher and Nathan. Frank is survived by: his wife of 49 years Sherry (Gavel) Huizenga, two sons with their partners Nathan (fiancée Katie Fraga) and Christopher (Michelle), his brothers David (Christa), Roy, and Wayne (Rose), and Aunt Elaine McGrail.

Frank was passionate in all things — both in his professional life and his hobbies. He had many cherished relationships throughout his life and career, and he loved meeting new people. He spent 40+ years working in the Chicago meat industry, becoming proficient at his craft before consulting into his retirement years. Frank turned the basement of their house into his personal wood working sanctuary and was constantly taking on projects for friends and family. Often he used his shop to fabricate sturdy pieces of furniture and works of art. Upon retirement, Frank completed a bucket list task, purchasing his dream truck, a 1940 GMC pick-up and spent the last 18 months of his life enjoying taking it to car shows and touring the town. Frank was known for his infectious personality, friendly demeanor, and ability to always make you smile, no matter who you were. He could usually be found walking through the neighborhood, where he often stopped to talk to everyone he passed on his route.
