HAMMOND, Ind. (August 10, 2022) – The Hammond NAACP branch recently announced its Annual Freedom Luncheon is scheduled for Saturday, September 24, 2022, at noon at Dynasty Banquet Hall, 4125 Calumet Avenue, in Hammond, Indiana. This year’s national theme is “This Is Power,” and speakers will address this and many other important issues for the local minority community.

The afternoon will feature a talk from Daniel Duster, the great-grandson of an NAACP founder, Ida B. Wells. The history of Motown music is also planned, along with a delicious meal and lots more fellowship and networking.

“We are fighting hard every day to improve lives for all residents of Northwest Indiana,” said President Reverend Homer Cobb of the Hammond NAACP Branch. “Our inspirations are the heroes of the Civil Rights Movement, and we are bringing that same spirit to our work today. It is very clear that it is needed, but also clear that the power is there if we boldly stand up and take it!”

Sponsorships are open, and ads are available for the event for local businesses and organizations who want to show support while promoting themselves to the community. Ads and sponsorships have a September 10 deadline. Tickets are $50 per person.

For more details and to order, contact Rev. Homer Cobb at 219-670-0883 or Nancy Cobb at [email protected].
