Bring your blanket, but not your backpack: Details for Lansing’s July 3 fireworks display

LANSING, Ill. (July 1, 2022) – Lansing’s firework display will again take place on July 3 at Lan-Oak Park. Hosted by the Lan-Oak Park District, the gates will open at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday night ahead of a 9:30 start.

The annual display was moved to July 3 for the first time last year, and a fence was placed around the park in an effort to keep crowds manageable and safe.

This year there will be three gates to enter Lan-Oak Park: one on Oakley Avenue, one on Arcadia Avenue, and one on 180th Street.

What to bring, what to leave

The Lan-Oak Park District has specified items that can and cannot be brought into the park:

The following are encouraged:

  • clear bags
  • collapsible chairs
  • blankets
  • food
  • sunscreen
  • small soft-side coolers
  • insect repellant
  • strollers
  • binoculars
  • rain jacket/poncho
  • small umbrellas
  • service animals

The following will not be allowed:

  • smoking
  • alcohol
  • fireworks
  • unclear bags
  • backpacks
  • aerosol spray
  • glass or metal containers
  • weapons
  • selfie sticks
  • laser pointers
  • pointed tip umbrellas
  • pets
  • tents
  • grills
  • open flames
  • inflatables (larger than a basketball)
