Michael J. Bochenek Sr., age 76, of Cedar Lake, IN, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 19, 2022. Loving husband of nearly 50 years of the late Diane Lynn Bochenek, nee Dittrich. Devoted father of Michael (Renee) Bochenek Jr., Walter (late Stephanie) Bochenek, Tina (Jeremy) Partain, and Eric Bochenek. Proud grandfather of Alyssa, Brian, Dakota (Brittany), Cara, Bradley (Courtnee), Kayla (Shawn), Olivia (Ryan), Tyler (Maria), James, Anahlise, Addisyn, Alexander, Abel, and Zachary; great-grandfather of 11. Dear brother of late Robert (Nancy) Bochenek, late Marion (late Barbara) Bochenek, and the late Richard (Nancy) Bochenek. Kind uncle of several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Marion and Irene Bochenek.
Michael was a little league coach for many years. He was an avid Cubs fan, and loved to fish and play bingo. He worked in the steel mills for over 30 years. Michael was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
Visitation Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 3 – 8 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Funeral Mass Friday, June 24, 2022, at 10 a.m. directly at St. Edward Church 216 S. Nichols Street, Lowell, IN, with Rev. Rick Holy officiating. Interment Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens – Crown Point, IN.
