Progress on the summer print issue

This is layout week

LANSING, Ill. (May 9, 2022) – Thanks to enthusiastic advertiser involvement, nearly two dozen ads have been finalized for the print issue of The Lansing Journal that will be in homes by June 1. That means this week Managing Editor Josh Bootsma and I can focus on finalizing the articles that will surround those ads.

We have one week to lay everything out and prepare the press-ready files. Next Monday I’ll be uploading the files to Blue Island Newspaper Printing. Our rep there will check the specs and do the pre-press work so our paper can be scheduled for press time, probably around May 23. The papers will be printed and bundled in time for distribution crews to pick up them up on May 27. By the end of May 28, every home in Lansing should have a copy.

So this is a busy week. We’ll invest a lot of hours into writing and editing articles, and then positioning them on 24 pages — all while keeping our daily routine of publishing local news online. We appreciate your patience if we aren’t able to return phone calls or emails right away this week. We are focused on that Monday deadline!

P.S. We appreciate those of you who recognize that this summer print issue is a special expense, above and beyond the costs of reporting, publishing, and delivering news online every day. To make a contribution (or to become a monthly supporter), click to our secure form:
