Connect with us:

Sustained and supported; informed and connected

A thank-you message for April contributors

LANSING, Ill. (May 2, 2022) – This past Saturday I had a chance to enjoy the final Copper Muggers pancakes of the season at the pancake breakfast fundraiser for Boy Scout Troop 276. Scoutmaster Michael Bergin informed me of it.

I wasn’t intending to stay long, but in addition to pancakes I ended up enjoying half a dozen conversations with people who expressed appreciation for The Lansing Journal. Some asked questions about articles we had published; some had ideas for new articles; some told me about articles they had shared with their families and friends. So by the time I left the pancake breakfast, my stomach was full, but so was my heart.

On the surface, all those stories that people tell me are about information. They like being informed, learning something new, and having the facts.

But on another level, these stories are about connection. The information they receive in the Daily News each morning is valuable because it enables them to make connections. With a new business in town. With a family member across the country. With their community at meetings or events.

That’s why reader support is so meaningful. It accomplishes much more than pixels and sometimes paper. It helps keep our community informed and connected.

If you are a supporter or sustainer, I want you to feel the same fullness of heart that I feel when I hear from our readers.

If you are not [yet] a supporter, I want you to feel the same gratitude that I feel for the people listed here.
