A thank-you message for April contributors
by Melanie Jongsma, Publisher
LANSING, Ill. (May 2, 2022) – This past Saturday I had a chance to enjoy the final Copper Muggers pancakes of the season at the pancake breakfast fundraiser for Boy Scout Troop 276. Scoutmaster Michael Bergin informed me of it.
I wasn’t intending to stay long, but in addition to pancakes I ended up enjoying half a dozen conversations with people who expressed appreciation for The Lansing Journal. Some asked questions about articles we had published; some had ideas for new articles; some told me about articles they had shared with their families and friends. So by the time I left the pancake breakfast, my stomach was full, but so was my heart.
On the surface, all those stories that people tell me are about information. They like being informed, learning something new, and having the facts.
But on another level, these stories are about connection. The information they receive in the Daily News each morning is valuable because it enables them to make connections. With a new business in town. With a family member across the country. With their community at meetings or events.
That’s why reader support is so meaningful. It accomplishes much more than pixels and sometimes paper. It helps keep our community informed and connected.
If you are a supporter or sustainer, I want you to feel the same fullness of heart that I feel when I hear from our readers.
If you are not [yet] a supporter, I want you to feel the same gratitude that I feel for the people listed here.

Thank you for keeping The Lansing Journal sustained and supported, so we can keep our community informed and connected.
P.S. If you want to join this mission of keeping people informed and connected, we welcome your support! You can use the form below to make a contribution of any size, and you can choose to be a monthly sustainer or an occasional supporter:
If you are a Lansing Journal reader who loves receiving an actual printed newspaper, we need your help.
We have begun working on a print edition that will be delivered to every home in Lansing in March.
Being in print is expensive. Ink, paper, press time, postage — those are additional expenses we take on in order to reach our community with important information.
Will you make a special gift to help us cover those extra expenses?
In fact, we would especially love it if you would keep that “Monthly” box checked. (See it there, below?) This print edition is a special expense, but our coverage of this community is ongoing — we deliver local news every single day. Monthly gifts make that possible.
Please, do what you can. And thank you!
