Long-awaited Tacos & Burritos Rancho Grande now open on Torrence

LANSING, Ill. (April 22, 2022) – The “Coming Soon” promise that’s been enticing the Lansing community on the video board of 17904 Torrence Avenue has been fulfilled. Tacos & Burritos Rancho Grande is now here.

The newly-constructed Torrence location is the second location of the Mexican eatery in Lansing, the first being located in the heart of downtown at 3444 Ridge Road.

“We’re very excited. We’ve been waiting for this moment for years,” Owner Jorge Trujillo said after a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, April 22, sponsored by the Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce.

It was in August of 2018 that Trujillo came before the Lansing Village Board to request a Class 8 tax incentive to remodel the former Golden Crown Restaurant.

Trujillo said COVID-related material shortages affected the timeline of the location’s opening, as well as the staffing shortage that has affected many businesses during the pandemic.

Trujillo said the “flagship” location on Torrence will include a few menu offerings that differ from the Ridge Road location.

“We’re going to have beer and margaritas. That’s a new addition. Plus we’re going to have a juice bar. Third, we’re doing carnitas and barbacoa every day. At our other locations, we only offer it on weekends.” Trujillo.

Though Trujillo encourages residents to try all the food, his personal favorite item is a steak taco topped with cilantro and onion.

Tacos & Burritos Rancho Grande is located at 17904 Torrence Avenue. Hours are 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. on weekends.
